Designed to prevent, treat and manage pressure related tissue injuries, the Athena Advanced is a high specification low air loss therapy system for pressure redistribution and skin microclimate management. The system provides immersion and envelopment to reduce peak pressure points for optimum pressure redistribution.
The Micro-climate Management feature of the system provides cooling air to circulate out of 16 ventilated air cells to the top of the mattress surface, wicking away moisture and humidity from an individual’s body for optimum skin protection. Strategically placed air vents in the air cells that provide a controlled rate of air which circulates around the mattress to manage the micro-climate keeping the skin cool and dry.
PUMP
Offering multiple modes for optimal pressure redistribution and patient comfort;
- Alternating Mode – providing pressure redistribution over a 5/10/15/20 minute cycle in a AB (2 in 1) pattern.
- Static Mode (Constant Low Pressure - CLP)– creating a static low pressure based on the selected pressure/comfort setting, allowing immersion into
the mattress providing pressure redistribution. - Pulsation Mode - delivers a combination of pressure relief and pressure redistribution with lower peak pressures compared to alternating mode. It is designed to provide the best possible combination between an effective treatment and a high level of comfort for the user with less awareness of the dynamic mattress surface movement
- Seat Mode – Recommended if the bed backrest is to be raised over 25°, as it provides additional pressure to the cells to help avoid bottoming out at the sacral area.
- Max Inflate Mode – Automatically inflates all cells to the maximum pressure setting. This can be beneficial to facilitate nursing and care procedures or when moving or repositioning a patient.
- 10 comfort weight settings are available to adjust to individual comfort, position or clinical requirements
- Audible and visual alerts for low pressure, alternate failure or power failure.
- Auto lockout – the pump will lockout after 5 minutes of inactivity to prevent accidental setting changes.
- Mute button - once the audible alert has been acknowledged the alert can be muted whilst the cause is investigated.
- Integral hanging hooks enable the pump to be suspended from the bed footboard, and 2 pads assist with pump stability and to minimise vibration.
- Fully EN60601-1, EN60601-1-2 and EN60601-1-11 compliant.
MATTRESS
The mattress includes 20 top cells in total, 16 of these are vented on 20 static base cells with a 2” Foam Base offering protection in the event of power outage or system failure.
- Individual cell’s ‘air on air’ construction along with the foam layer reduces the risk of ‘bottoming out’ as the lower section of each cell remains inflated to provide a supportive base.
- The CPR function is activated by disconnecting the tube set connector from the pump to quickly deflate the mattress in the event on emergency. The 2” foam base offers protection in the event of a power cut.
- A zipped cable management system built into the mattress bottom cover safely routes the power cable to reduce the risk of a trip hazard.
- The mattress straps and waterfall flap can be used to assist with manual handling of the mattress. (Not to be used for patient evacuation purposes)
- The covers are multi stretch, water resistant and vapour permeable.
- The mattress cover is vapour permeable which allows a vapour, such as water vapour or sweat particles to pass through it therefore reducing moisture build on the skin.
- The covers are multi stretch which allows for movement in multiple directions. It is designed to provide complete freedom of movement and enhance patient comfort.
- The cover works with the patient, so as they move on the mattress the cover moves in the same direction therefore reducing shear and friction
- An anti-fungal agent is encapsulated in the cover to help control microbial deterioration.
- The cover features a white inner substrate to assist in identifying signs of cover damage and strike-through.
- Includes 2 x 180° zips for easy access to the internal cells and welded seams and a waterfall flap to help prevent fluid ingress.
- Comes as standard with a mattress storage / transit strap
- 8 Straps enable the mattress to be secured to the profiling bed (moveable parts only) frame.
- The Athena Advanced Mattress System is suitable for use for all categories of pressure ulcer including Deep Tissue Injury (DTI) and Unstageable, alongside a completed risk assessment taking into consideration but not limited to mobility status, skin condition, nutritional and continence status plus a patient specific turning schedule
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
Machine wash separately in cold water on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry separately on low heat. Add QE Home Wool Dryer Balls to reduce wrinkles and increases drying efficiency. Touch up with a low heat iron as needed. Do not bleach or dry clean.
