Exufiber Ag+ is a sterile, antimicrobial, non-woven dressing made from highly absorbent polyvinyl alcohol fibres. When in contact with wound exudate, Exufiber Ag+ transforms into a gel, facilitating moist wound healing and easy removal during dressing changes. Exufiber Ag+ is impregnated with silver ions that inactivate wound related pathogens and prevent biofilm formation.
Benefits of Exufiber Ag+
- High tensile strength to enable dressing removal in one piece
- High retention capacity to prevent leakage and maceration
- Rapid antimicrobial affect in 3 hours
- Sustained antimicrobial activity for up to 7 days
- Absorbs and retains exudate, blood and bacteria
- Highly absorbent, also under compression therapy
- Soft and conformable which makes it easy to apply
- Hydrolock Technology
- Can be left in place for up to seven days and up to 7 days
Absorption
The soft and conformable non-woven polyvinyl alcohol fibres transform into a gel upon contact with exudate. With hydrolock technology the tightly packed fibres absorb and swell when in contact with fluid, keeping exudate locked in, while the capillary action enables transfer of exudate to the secondary dressing. Exufiber promotes autolytic debridement and is removed in one piece, therefore supporting a clean wound bed.Â
Antimicrobial Effect
Exufiber Ag+ is impregnated with silver sulphate ions which are activated when coming in contact with exudate. The silver sulphate ions bind to the cell wall proteins causing them to rupture. The silver sulphate ions may also bind to bacterial enzymes and cell DNA, inhibiting them to function normally. The ions will divide throughout the wound fluid until it reaches equilibrium, thus sustaining it's antimicrobial effect in the wound dressing and in the wound.
Areas of Use
Exufiber Ag+ wound dressings are intended to be used on a wide range of medium-high exuding and cavity wounds, such as:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Surgical wounds
- Donor sites
- Partial thickness burns
- Malignant wounds
- Dermal lesions
Precautions
All wounds should be inspected frequently. In case of signs of infection, consult a health care professional for infection treatment. Exufber Ag+ is not intended for dry wounds or full thickness burns. If the dressing dries out and is diffcult to remove, it should be moistened according to clinical practice and allowed to soak until it lifts easily

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS:
Machine wash separately in cold water on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry separately on low heat. Add QE Home Wool Dryer Balls to reduce wrinkles and increases drying efficiency. Touch up with a low heat iron as needed. Do not bleach or dry clean.
